| If your employees were telepathic |
These complaints fail to recognize the wisdom of the old Italian Proverb Il pesce comincia a puzzare dalla testa (The Fish stinks from the head down). They miss the point that the issue with so many employees is simply that they have not been properly trained and that there is insufficient communication. Communication is something that cannot be overdone. Employees never complain that management tells them too much about what is going on…quite the reverse. Leaving aside common sense isn’t so common and if your employees were better they would be working elsewhere, both of which I have written about elsewhere, the issue is that your people can’t possibly divine what you want unless you tell them. It would be great if employees were telepathic and just knew what we wanted before we ever asked for it. Unfortunately the world just isn’t that way and if you ever find somebody who does….hold on to them at all costs because they could almost certainly earn more using that skill elsewhere.
